Come on you guys, no one thinks Crow joining Fleetwood Mac is news?

Sheryl Crow is set to fill the shoes of Christine Mcvee. I think this could be very interesting. I know most here are not big into Classic Rock, or won't admit it but I like both Mac and Sheryl. This should be an interesting project. I hope they put out some new music and just don't try to live off the current library. You know, a rebirth, not just a recycle.

She'll befriend them, strike up a romance with Lindsey, then she'll steal their songs for her own album and claim that the others were merely a backing band.

I will take a wait and see position. I don't see her filling in long term so it might just be one of those 10-20 city Summer tour things where she does some of their stuff some of her stuff everyone pockets the money and walks away at the end of the Summer. For some reason I don't see Stevie being thrilled about this for very long.

Was she always like that, or is that just the result of being around Lance Armstrong too long?

Actually this one had nothing to do with Lance. Many, many years ago Troy posted a link detailing the tale of Kevin Gilbert and his association with his former girlfriend Sheryl Crow.

I don't recall the exact link but a quick google shows no shortages of pages related to the events leading up to his death. I was never a SC fan so in all honesty all I came away with was yet more reasons to dislike the women and I wasn't really in need of anymore. Really weird and sad stuff there.

I was never a Fleetwood Mac fan either so the news isn't going to effect me one way or another. I suppose at one point I felt that Rumors was one of the better albums of all time but that was so long ago and it's been so long since I've pulled it out that I don't know for sure that I'd still feel the same way.

No, not news to me. I would have been happy never knowing this.

I forget who made the Mac Nuggets comp, but all the real old stuff with male vocals or no vocals is great. As soon as the chicks start howling, it's over for me so it's no big deal. It won't be Fleetwood Mac, it will be Fleetwood Crow. It will probably be as long lived as Buckethead with Guns and Roses was.

Interesting, I didn't know some of this stuff. I don't ordinarily follow the entertainment news.

I'd rather have read a thread about Buckethead being in Guns 'n' Roses.

I'd laugh at that comment if it weren't so true. I was a fan of Crow's when The Tuesday Night Music Club disk first came out. Then I heard this story. Then I heard The Shaming of the True. It helped me understand why TTNMC is the only Sheryl Crow CD that I ever liked. But I can't tolerate her anymore now that I know the truth. She's a liar and a thief.

Mr. Peabody, if you haven't heard The Shaming of the True you should try to get your hands on a copy. It won't be the best CD that you've ever heard...but it has its moments of musical brilliance and you'll be glad that you heard it.

Buckethead (born Brian Carroll in 1969[1]) is an American guitarist and composer. He is known for wearing a white plastic mask and a KFC bucket on his head and for being a quiet individual who rarely if ever gives interviews. If an interview is given all questions are answered by Buckethead's rubber hand puppet "Herbie".

He is a prolific composer, having released 38 solo albums and performed on over 50 more. He has also made a guest appearance on 44 different albums from various artists. His music spans across diverse areas such as thrash metal, funk, electronica, jazz and avant-garde music.

Although a multi-instrumentalist (playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, banjo, keyboards, ukulele, organ, violin, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, drums, gong, and piano), Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing, characterized by diverse playing styles spanning thrash guitar, fingerpicking, and slap guitar. Guitar One voted him number 8 on a list of the "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time".[2] Buckethead makes extreme use of tritones in his music which sound dissonant and give the impression of robotic and unnatural sounds.[2]

Although Buckethead now works primarily as a solo artist touring the United States with a trio, he has had a wide variety of high profile collaborations with such artists as Les Claypool, Tony Williams, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Serj Tankian, Guns N' Roses, Saul Williams, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen and with Bill Laswell on Praxis.

Buckethead also has a career writing and performing music for major motion pictures. Some of the films he has worked on include: Saw II, Ghosts of Mars, Beverly Hills Ninja, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Last Action Hero and the soundtrack of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.

Not my normal circle of bands and some I haven't heard of. I will have to check them out.

FA, that did catch my attention and I'd like to also hear what Giraffe sounds like. I like Peter Gabriel but I'm not a big fan of early Genesis. I'm still curious to check out Gilbert's projects.

I think that's a bit drastic. I never once saw any evidence that Gilbert tried to fight for what was his. In fact, some of those guys played on her first two albums in the hopes of advancing their own careers and became truly angry only after she was hugely successful while Gilbert wallowed in misery and political correctness. But the world is full of vultures and parasites like her. I saw her on Charlie Rose when he specifically asked her if she left her husband and two children behind in Missouri when she left for CA and she confirmed it.

Nah, I know she didn't really kill anyone, but I do think she took advantage of a bunch of drugged out underachievers. I think one of the Davids went on to record a solo album or two (Baerwald, I think...wait...yes, Baerwald). Yes the music biz sucks and Crow was prolly baited into parting company with the rest of the TNMC by some suit, and she did downplay their role in her debut album. Some people are really driven and are capable of doing some crappy things when they get blinded by ambition. It was the suits that finally convinced Gwen Stephani to permanently ditch No Doubt. One person is just way easier to manage than a whole band.

Of course, being on drugs didn't help the two Davids or Gilbert. David & David's Welcome To The Boomtown was a great album and a massive hit, but they were too busy snorting coke to take advantage of the momentum. Add to that Gilbert's reputation for being difficult to work with...of course this is all internet conjecture, who knows what really happened. Doesn't matter, as Fleetwood Mac went off the auto-buy list decades ago. Crow was never on that list.

Yeah, I think Crow is way overrated. Actually, I never thought Giraffe was all that hot either so I never listened to much Gilbert.

It's kind of weird that he did The Lamb and Rosanne Arquette and that's two things Peter Gabriel had already done...

People ditch their bands for lots of reasons. The suits may have convinced Stephani to ditch hers and God convinced Neal Morse to ditch his. Whatever. Neither one of those two denied the band's existence or blatantly lied about writing songs that never belonged to them in the first place...at least not that I've heard of.

I have no problem with people following the opportunities that come their way to acheive success. I have a problem when it's done dishonestly and unethically.

A few moments in time with Buckethead

Buckethead embracing commercialism, which we all know should only be done in a room with seven other people.

Buckethead with some cat named Lester

And, of course, Buckethead with Guns'n'Roses in front of 250,000 people...which means it's time to be as ****ed up as humanly possible.
