    Mercury Prize Nominees 2008...

    Well, those Brits have their own thing going on music-wise sometimes (Robbie Williams!?) but at least it's a much more interesting roster than the MTV/VH1 awards we've got. I don't know quite a few of these but think the Burial album is esp. excellent and the Plant/Krauss is great, if a bit boring. They announce the winner in the next week or so I think.

    The 2008 albums of the year are:

    * Adele - 19
    * British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?
    * Burial - Untrue
    * Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
    * Estelle - Shine
    * Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim
    * Neon Neon - Stainless Style
    * Portico Quartet - Knee-Deep in the North Sea
    * Rachel Unthank & The Winterset - The Bairns
    * Radiohead - In Rainbows
    * Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
    * The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement

    Maybe Mike will stop by and weigh in on some of these that we may not be familiar with on this side of the pond.
