Mmmm, Guinness, now that's some good stuff

I just had some PENN DARK this past weekend and it's one of the darkest dang beers i've ever seen....and also quite good!

How about a Mackesson Stout with PF's Pulse or Neko Case Austin City Limits?

A trip to the Emerald Island and a pint or two of the black stuff at the west coast will bring you back into the fold.
Guinness tastes very different when brewed in Ireland. Something to do with the water used from a stream in the west. A magical drink. Worth going just for that alone.

And I believe that...my main issue with Guiness is not its flavour, but the flavour of the water it's mixed with -- I shouldn't be able to taste that, but for some reason, every Guiness that I've had recently (which, admittedly, is not much), I could.

I was into the Sam Adams' Octoberfest over the weekend, with extended listening sessions devoted to BTS's latest release, Porky Tree on DVD, The Doves' Some Cities, Sloshapalooza, and the brand new one from My Chemical Romance (from my daughter's collection).
And, oh yeah, watching the first half of the Bears game. That was some first half, let me tell ya.

Drink it straight. Who mixes it with water? That's just silly. Guinness is still great. Always. Never get tired of it, so rich and complex. But yeah, not everyday.

I walked into my local beverage center this weekend with the plan to buy some more Octoberfest, and was very pleasantly surprised to see Winter Lager in stock!!! So needless to say, my Octoberfest days are done, will now be buying Winter Lager for the rest of the winter.

I didn't mean watering it down, it just had this ... black-n-tan-ness to it. It tasted like two drinks -- the good stuff, and the water. Like liquid chocolate and sprite. And I got that both from the bottled stuff, and from on tap.

There's a reason Guiness is the stout everyone compares everything else to. Sometimes a classic just tastes best.

I must confess, I like Guinness, but damn, I can only drink one. No other beer does me in like that. And I hates drinkin' only one beer...

I'd much rather have a Sierra Nevada stout, just my opinion though.

Only had a few Belgian beers. They tend to be pricey over here.
I did like La Chouffe quite a bit and also the Chimay I tired, but I can't recall which one it was.
Dupont Saison was one I remember liking as well.
Any recommendations of other Belgian beers to try?

I'd rather drink used transmission fluid than Guinness. I'm in Derby, UK for 2 weeks, and had several pints of Abbot's Ale last night that suited me just fine- in one of those deals where the tap is actually a pump that the bartender has to work at to fill yr glass. I'd take a pint of it over a bathtub full of the G stuff.

Cranky old fart. Some used tranny fluid would probably do you some good. Maybe mix it with your Metamucil.
