Every day I'm listening to at least one CD in a 10-disk box set from NAXOS of the RACHMANINOV "Piano Music".............The Complete Solo Piano Music and Concertos played by Idil Biret.
This is a perfect set for listening at work...........masterful yet relaxing too.......not only good background music for the office but, you can turn it up a bit between projects.
    Biret is quite the musician.

I don't have a whole lot of brand new stuff, but...

...I am digging Davey's 'Smoke From a Lithium Dream' comp, along with

Broker Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe
Josh Ritter - So Runs the World Away
The Morning Benders - Big Echo
Richmond Fontaine - We Used to Think the Freeway Sounded Like a River
    Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
    Nina Nastasia - Outlaster
    Darker My Love - 2
    Supergrass - S/T
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

    Women - Public Strain

The Smiths - Singles Box Set

    Crocodiles - Sleep Forever
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

Hmmm, I'm getting the feeling based on no feedback from others that yours is the only one that made it through the mist (M. John Harrison reference, read Viriconium if the opportunity arises, Light too). Too bad, I thought it was a pretty good comp. Maybe I should try to upload it?

Got that old Manitoba "Up In Flames" in my player right now, along with some very good India pale ale from Bridgeport. Very nice on both accounts. Before that the first Woven Hand. And before that the new Walkmen, though not a big fan. Work related (ie a friend from work is a big fan).

...I just had some Stone IPA, one of my all-time favorites, at what is billed as an 'authentic' British pub called the Bullshead in Lititz (pronounced lit-its, not li-tits "-) along with some Founders Curmudgeon Old Ale, aptly named from this imbiber. Also bought a case of Racer 5 from Bear Republic Brewery in Sonoma, CA, but you prolly knew that already. My favorite is still that 60 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Brewery in DE. Their double, the 90 minute, is also high on my list, but the ABV is just too high to drink on a regular basis.

I haven't heard that new Walkmen cd, except for a cut or two on Sirius XM. Not sure if I'd buy it but they were pretty good live. Ordered the new Deerhunter that has been garnering heaps of praise from every corner, and pre-ordered the new Three Mile Pilot.

Uploading your comp is prolly the way to go. I haven't done that myself but will likely venture in that direction the next time I put one together.

Put together version 2.1 of my 2010 YEC, to give to my brother & nephew this past weekend as I was visiting them down in Mexico. I needed a good bit of listening and re-listening to get the right tracks, but the end result is OK and about 90% of the way there.

Of course, I don't have it with me now, but the artists include Arcade Fire, Broken Bells, Freelance Whales, The National, New Pornos, Film School, Besnard Lakes, Hold Steady, Wolf Parade, The Walkmen, Devo, LCD Soundsystem, Frightened Rabbit, blah blah blah.

BTW, Mexico was a nice little getaway. Here's a few pix...

I sent one to everyone that asked, except you. It didn't mean no, I was all out of supplies when you asked, and said it would be a few days, and then just never got around to it. I was also kind of bummed that apparently the other ones didn't get through, so kind of lost interest. I do have a spare copy now, so I'll send it out. Sorry for the delay.

BTW, that Broken Social Scene has gradually become my favorite of the year. Didn't really see it happen, but I think it has. I can just listen to it over and over.

Sounds like a good set. Idil Biret is supposed to be very good. I'm supposed to be inheriting some money from an Aunt (by marriage) I never knew I had (I had heard of the uncle, but contact was very minimal). I'm hoping to be able to buy some things on my wish lists with some of it.

I did get a new Naxos disc a few days agos called French Flute Chamber Music with the Mirage Quintet, Naxos 8.570444. Their flautist is Robert Aitken and the harpist is Erica Goodman. Music is by Marcel Tournier, Florent Schmitt, Gabriel Pierne, Jean Francaix, and Albert Roussel. Lovely, warm ambient sound, and the music is inventive and varied. Producers were Bonnie Silver and Norbert Kraft himself an eminent guitarist, so it is no surprise the recording is so good.

I've also been listening to Vivaldi, Six Concertos with Timothy Hutchins, recorder and flute; Theodore Baskin, oboe; and I Music de Montreal conducted by Yuli Turovsky. Chandos CHAN 8444, Very natural sound and the music is quite nice. Recorded 1985--I guess they never got the news that early digital was supposed to sound dry and harsh, with that digital edge. I think I originally got it for the concerto for sopranino recorder, RV.444, which I had heard in a concert.
