Listened to anything good this year?

Our first "show me yours and I'll show you mine" Tunesday rotation thread of the new year. Any good listens in the last week or so?

Think I already mentioned most of mine in other threads, but still really loving this Cherry Tree EP by The National that Swish Baby mentioned in another thread. So sorry that the motorcade will have to go around me this time....and all the wine is all for me.

And that new Autolux is the best. Future Perfect. Man, if you like the sound of shoegazer power pop, this is the deal. Hints of the softer side of Pink Floyd at times and some of the gentle Abbey Road side 2 sound as well. It does erupt with squalls of guitar feedback on most of the songs, very much like MBV and Ride, which are probably the closest references. Too close probably, but very nice nonetheless. Big drums too which separates it a bit from the the more blissful sound of something like Loveless. One of those CDs that I could probably listen to exclusively for days and still not feel like I had completely absorbed it.

And that Augie March Strage Bird still has me fascinated. Great album and maybe even getting better with each listen. Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks leading the Flaming Lips? That silly description apparently comes courtesy of Rolling Stone, at least according to the review blurbs at amazon.com. I hear a lot of Kinks goodness in it myself.

And some old Pink Floyd and some Jesus & Mary Chain and some Spoon and .... you?

Sorry...started another Teusday thread while you were starting this one. If I knew how to delete mine and just post me stuff here I would. But I don't, so I won't.

But but but mine post was up 20 minutes before yours! Hehehe, yeah, nice list you got going there with all the pretty pictures. You trying to turn this place into another obner? At least there's some words to go with the pictures, something severely lacking over there. Hehehe, but I think maybe you have a little too much free time in the morning, eh?

Hope people post under yours, but you're right, you can't delete threads, only posts. There's so little traffic here anyway, an extra post or two can't really be thought of as a bad thing!

    Cool

Where to start...I bought an iPod a few months ago and with that became addicted to the iTunes music store and have spent oodles. I have found some amazing music but the standouts are...

    Pinback
    Porcupine Tree
    Joy Zipper
    The New Pornographers
    Sigur Ros
    Iron and Wine
Beck (the new one, Sea Change)
    The Flaming Lips wow*
