Just got my tickets seconds ago. April 20, 7:00 PM at an outdoor venue which is of course dicey that time of year. Not really wild about a Wednesday either for that matter but what a show it should be.

Hope they are teaming up in your neck of the woods.

Got my tickets last Sat. for Wilco on May 3 - Tues night show. It seems the big names stop in my area during the week on their way to weekend shows in New Orleans.

Arcade Fire/The National sounds like a dream show.

Was gonna go see the national's when they were around here but tickets were like $30 a pop. Just can't bring myself to pay that much for a show when I have a system at home I'd enjoy so much more than a dingy crowded theater with a ****ty sound system.

The live experience is normally far better than anything on my home system. The Pavement show last fall was among the best experiences of my life and no amount of cds can ever replace that. I plan to see as many live bands as possible for as long as I can handled it.

Heck, I just saw the Drive By Truckers on a Wednesday night with Marah opening, I'm not a big fan of DBT but Marah alone was worth the effort. I wish they could have played longer.

Two of my biggest regrets are that I never saw the Ramones, never saw The Clash. Not that I recall passing up any opportunities to do so, they just were not around here for me to see.

I of course agree with the live experience comment. Like you, I have a more than competent system. Heck I even have sound board bootlegs of National Shows as well as Arcade Fire and hundreds upon hundreds of others. While they "remind me" of the live experience, it still falls short of the actual memory.

Gotta agree with Swish on this one.

It's nice to see a group live, but usually the sound is no where near what I can get at home. Between the less than acoustically sound hall that the show is held in and the crowd can be a little rowdy. Some might say that is part of the experience. Maybe when I was in my 20's.

Just saw them on TV last week in concert, so I'm with AA. No lines to pee, no lines at the concession stand, no s****y sound system. I'm that way with sporting events too. My HiFi sales guy keeps asking me to go to an Eagles game with him. He's had 2 season tickets for years. I'm just a creature comfort guy.

The Arcade Fire show, with Spoon opening, was outdoors last summer, and the place was crowded with 14,000 people. The National was about 3 or 4 years ago, and besides the lead singer having a cold, it was also a very good show. I'm envious!

GAWD, I can't think of a worse way to spend an evening. I don't like either of those bands.

I'll be bringing the wife and kid when they come to Chicago two nights later (4/22). Fortunately for us, it's an indoor venue. Both of my girls are ultra-torqued for this show!

I saw AF at an outdoor festival last August with about 40,000 people, and they killed it. Saw the National open for REM a few years ago at the United Center, and I heard them (couldn't actually see them) at a nearby stage as I jockeyed for position for the aforementioned AF show last year.

It's nice to spend some real quality time with her before she goes off to college next year. And for whatever reason, she has a deep fondness for Canadian bands (Arcade Fire, New Pornographers, The Dears, BSS, etc.). So this is going to be huge for her.
