Not trying to be morbid, but we have lost a lot of Musical talent through the years.

Who have you seen in Concert that has lost a band member?

well for starters I was able to see AC/DC with Bon Scott, Led Zepplin with John Bonham
Ozzy with Randy Rhoads.

we have lost a lot of people over the years. it is kinda sad. most of them were overdoses or stupid acts. as in all of the above concerts i have seen.


imagine what the 70's and 80's would have been like if we hadnt lost janice joplin,jimmy hendricks, bon scott, john bohnam or randy rhoads.

I saw Skinny Puppy 2 times before Dwayne Goettel died (heroin OD).

I saw Janitor Joe a few times with future Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff (heroin OD)

I saw the band Surgery a few times before their singer Sean McDonnell died (asthma related)

One of my favorite bands, Acid Bath broke up soon after their bass player Audie Pitre was killed by a drunk driver.. luckily I got to see them a few times. They were just amazing, if you like gothic southern-fried death metal.

no big stars really though.

I just need to think about all the friggin' shows I've seen over the years, and my mind is a bit (ahem) muddled when I try to remember those days.

I saw the last two Grateful Dead concerts, July '95 in Chicago in the month before Jerry died. I will always remember them fondly. Jerry performed a gorgeous version of "Visions of Johanna" on the first night that especially stuck in my mind because it's always been one of my favorite Dylan songs and it was well done in his gentle style. The versions played of "Sugaree" and "Touch of Grey" I also still remember.

You're thinking of Blind Al Wilson, so named for the big round specks he wore.

I saw Spirit also, but California wasn't with them at the time.

Off the top of my head, the only ones I can think of are Joe Strummer of the Clash and Stevie Ray Vaughn. And Phil Collins, who's dead to me anyway.

Ray Charles

I saw him at a basketball gym on Ft. G.G. Meade, MD when I was stationed there back around '75 or '76. It was a weird place to see an icon, but it was more intimate than most venues would've been, and Ray was in fine, fine voice. He talked to people in the crowd, told jokes, and performed every song I'd hoped to hear. I've never heard a better singer.
