There's been some talk around these parts about this CD and I thought I'd add my two cents and post my Friday Song of the Day here.

I'm back to treating my music like precious jewels. I'm buying CD's one at a time and learning all I can about the band and memorizing the lyrics and falling in love with music all over again. I'm easily distracted and too much music turned me off of listening for a spell.

I've had Twin Cinema for a while now, but it is just now growing on me after about 5 plays. I can see why Autumn likes this album, even though I wouldn't have expected it. There are some definite 70's style riffs on some of the songs. Kinda Bowie, Who-ish background vocals.

I really didn't like the album at first, except for the songs where Neko Case's vocals were up front and centre. But I'm coming around. I know A.C. Newman has been mentioned her before. I know nothing about him. Is he good as a solo artist?

Right now my fave song is:

In coral and gray
In submarine chambers
One day
It swam for the light
The jewels that lit
The cities that float there
Cities in circles drawn perfect, complete
Holding the secrets on my street
My street, my street

So come in and play
The song of the siren
It's commonplace
You hear the voice rise
In one wave
And crash on your doorstep
Making the circle here perfect, complete
These are the fables on my street

Anyone wanna talk music?
