    Three observations.

First, I was watching some of the VH rehearsal videos on YouTube and they were surprisingly good. DLR (the weakest link) was really good.

Second. I can't tell you how many shows I've been to where the band screws up. Stops. Fixes. Starts over. I've even got live records and DVDs where they leave the screw up in. I guess you can't do that with a big arena show.

Finally. Go, Dave, Go! Ride that Giant Microphone in a manner that suggests it is your Cock! He is so pleased with himself. :D

That was almost painful to listen to - not as bad as DLR's ninja impression though...
    Brutal.

    Oh, my!
I'll bet Eddie would have sold his soul (or, did he already?) for a flesh-and-blood keyboardist at that point. Just shows to go 'ya, when the human element is eliminated, we're at the mercy of the machines.

    As a guitarist...
    ...that was embarrassing.

...and avoidable too. While it's true, as the narrator puts it, that the keyboard is pitched at an odd/off rate he could have ear tuned the low A or E string to the tonic and had the guitar tuned backstage with an electronic tuner on the fly. Could've been done in the first half of the song and in time to prevent worse-than-usual solo catterwauling. It's not like the rhythm part is integral to the song ( which in-and-of-itself is a statement).

I guess a few decades of debauchery eliminates the possibility of analytic problem solving.

Why not just stop it and start over? In the long run that would have been less embarassing.

They probably would have, but their ego got in the way.

I think that is a tape, not a keyboard player.

I don't think that anyone thought it was a keyboard player to begin with, which was the whole point from the OP that the tape was played back at the wrong speed.
