    Elliot Smith...Where have I been?

I heard a really nice track from his last album last night titled Pretty (Ugly Before). I've managed to ignore the dozens of times I've read his praises but now want to pick up a disc or two.

Any recommendations on where to start? They all seem to rate well.
I didn't change my mind. It changed all by itself.

They're all good, but I'd start with these two:

    either/or

    XO

either/or is a more stripped down affair as far as the arrangements are concerned, while XO seems to have more Beatle-esque quality to it. My favorite is either/or, but you'll probably get a lot of variance among people's favorites, because almost everything he put out was very good, if not excellent. Also, if you like "Pretty(Ugly Before)", From a Basement on the Hill is a fine place to start.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

Stone pretty much said it all. His other two unmentioned albums are Figure 8 and Roman Candle. Definately give them a listen.

Thanks to you both. As usual Stone, you provide a definitive response to "all things Indie".

Ah...it's great to have a specific music store target for a Friday afternoon...
