    Decemberists free download.
Free download of a song off their new album, due out on January 18, 2011.

Sounds kinda REMish to me after just one spin. Better than anything from their last album, I think.

I wasn't going to d/l this until I got the Slosh-eye-view first. And I'm loving what I'm reading... so off I go to Downloadland. Stay tuned.

All right, I've spun it twice now. Yes, it sounds like REM. And yes, it's pretty darn good. And 320 kps is pretty nice, too!

Both bands have new albums coming out in 2011. You know what would be really cool? The Decemberists opening for REM. :yesnod:

Hey, I'll play the part of R.E.M. defender. They'll probably never record anything so soul-shakingly beautiful as some of their IRS output, but I've found that there's at least a song or two on each of their records that's consistently hummable. "Imitation of Life" might not be "1,000,000" or "Driver 8", but it's still better than a lot on the local alternative radio station.
