Songs about Knives and Cutting :)

Hey, I'm having Gallstone surgery soon, let's brainstorm about songs that mention knives and cutting. No cheating on Allmusic.com either. :P
Oh and leave out songs by Death Metal bands, there are probably hundreds of them. :P

Twisted Sister - Under the Blade
AC/DC - Night of the Long Knives
Peter Murphy - Cuts you Up
    Minutmen - Cut
Iron Maiden - Flash of the Blade
Cuts Like a Knife (who did that?)

Ok.. I'll leave the mic open for suggestions.

How bout that great Cat Stevens tune, "First Cut Is The Deepest"? Course it doesn't really have anything to do with knives. Or the very nice Rod Stewat version? Or (gag me) the recent Sheryl Crow version?

Better, that morbid Beautiful South song called "Something That You Said" ...

The perfect love song it has no words it only has death threats
And you can tell a classic ballad by how threatening it gets
So if you walk into your house and she's cutting up your mother
She's only trying to tell you that she loves you like no other
No other, she loves you like no other.

The perfect kiss is dry as sand and doesn't take your breath
The perfect kiss is with the boy that you've just stabbed to death

And ya gotta have Radiohead doing "Knives Out"

I've been on a Femmes kick lately, so the first thing that came to mind was "Never Tell" in particular this portion:

Can you keep a secret for me?
Make sure no one finds out,
cause then the lights will go out,
and I will find you out,
and I will cut you up.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

No cutting involved, but the best knife song ever is still Guy Clark's Randall Knife

My wife has heard most of the stuff from their first album and likes most of it. Then she heard "Country Death Song" and was pretty much not thrilled about that. She had me delete it from the computer. I guess I can kind of see that not everyone can appreciate the art of the murder ballad.

Six Blade Knife - Dire Straits

Your six blade knife can do anything for you
    Anything you want it to
One blade for breaking my heart
One blade for tearing me apart
Your six blade knife-do anything for you

You can take away my mind like you take away the top of a tin
When you come up from behind and lay it down cold on my skin
Took a stone from my soul when I was lame
Just so you could make me tame
You take away my mind like you take away the top of a tin

I’d like to be free of it now - I don’t want it no more
I’d like to be free of it now - you know I don’t want it no more

Everybody got a knife it can be just what they want it to be
A needle a wife or something that you just can’t see

You know it keeps you strong
Yes and it’ll do me wrong
Your six blade knife - do anything for you

"The Cutter" by Echo & the Bunneymen.

Best of luck with that surgery...you're probably getting the simple, minimally invasive laparoscopy done. Hope it goes well. That is, I hope it goes A LOT better than mine. (I was in that 2% that they warn you about.)

Actually, I recommend listening to the Stones' "Sister Morphine" during your recovery!

Wishbone Ash - Throw Down The Sword....I think it's called.

Brian Setzer has one about a switchblade but since I can't cheat...not sure of the title.

    Here's a thought...

I they (surgeons) could let you listen to your favorite music on headphones while you were being operated on, what would you listen to?

I'd like to listen to something spacey or trippy.

I had hernia surgery a couple of months ago and I don't remember a thing actually. I remembered how funny my arm felt with the cold anaestetic flowing through it, then, the next thing I know, they're asking me how I was feeling...I lost two hours just like that. No hang over or anything.

They asked me if I needed anything for pain, and I asked if what they had gave any hallucinagetic side effects, and they said no, so I said, "Then forget it".

    Take it easy, dood.

All the songs that I can think of have already been mentioned. But I did want to wish you luck Jar. Not feeling well sucks. I hope that it's all over for you soon and you get back to 'normal' as quickly as possible.

Interesting question. I had a root canal a few years ago and I took PF's Meddle and WYWH in with me. Then last year, when I had broken tooth replaced with a crown, I went with Rik Emmett's, Ten Invitations from the Mistress of Mr. E, which has some beautiful classical guitar pieces on it. So I guess that I'd go for the mellower, trippy stuff too.

The only one that comes to mind

Benny the bouncer by ELP .... how about Hendrix's "Stone Free" for post op?

Benny was the bouncer at the palais de dance
He’d slash your granny’s face up given half a chance.
He’d sell you back the pieces, all for less than half a quid
He thought he was the meanest-
Until he met with savage sid.

Now sidney was a greaser with some nasty roots
He poured a pint of guinness over benny’s boots
    Benny looked at sidney:
Sidney stared right back in his eye.
    Sidney chose a switchblade
And benny got a cold meat pie.
    Oh! what a terrible sight,
    Much to the people’s delight.
    One hell of a fight.

Sidney grabbed a hatchet, buried it .... in benny’s head.
The people gasped as he bled:
    The end of a ted?

Well, they dragged him from the wreckage of the palais in bits.
They tried to stick together all the bits that would fit.
But some of him was missing
And part of him arrived too late,
So now he works for jesus
As the bouncer at st. peter’s gate

Sorry to hear about your surgery, Jar.

Are they going to do the surgery where they pulverize the gall bladder first and remove it through a tiny incision site? If not, make sure they keep the scar below your bikini line! And take advantage of the good drugs, man!

But don't be like PJ and Rub Till It Bleeds. Stay with Dry and be Happy and Bleeding.

I know. Best I could do. Good luck.
