Yeah, I can tell you know the feeling! What's at the top of your wishlist right now? Giving you an itch that needs scratching? Something you'd be willing to plop down a couple extra yankee bucks just to get it sooner rather than later? Anything?

Not too many recent releases that are must haves for me right now, although I have been looking for a good deal on that new Miracle Mile Glow CD which is a small UK release so tough to get for me here in Hooter Valley (uh, see here for hooter info). Also that new Magnolia Electric Co has been quietly screaming buy me! buy me! buy me! just recently. But I was just listening to Enon's High Society a few days ago, and wound up spinning it a coupla times, and came to the enlightened conclusion that I absolutely needed to procure a copy of the final Brainiac album, Hissing Prigs in Static Couture, so have been looking for one of those, probably a cheapo used copy. Supposed to be great stuff, and even partially recorded by Steve Albini, along with Eli Janney who worked on those middle period Girls Against Boys albums I also love. Anyone heard that one yet? Anyway, that and some good Pale Ale is on the top of my weekend buy list.

I'm gonna have to buy that new Eno album sooner or later. I looked for a used copy yesterday, but all they had was "Here Come the Warm Jets", so I bought that instead. Angular and weird, I like it fine. Reminds me of "Taking Tiger Mountain."

Yeah, I was in Tower a few weeks ago and had it in my hand, but alas, it was just way too much. Bastards! The internet and used shopping has spoiled me, that's for sure. Remember that 801 Live thing? Those guys were a bunch of lovebale wackos, huh? So much talent too. I made a Brian Eno comp one time of my favorites from the vocal years. From that early 90s Virgin box set. Fun stuff. Wish I had a copy with me. Think I made two different versions.

It's so funny...lately when I sign in to this site, there is one or two posts that grab my attention (and you are usually the author, Davey!). This particular post did immediately...here's why: I have hardly purchased any music of any form (cd, vinyl, dvd, etc) in the last 2 years. Chalked it up to getting older, priorities changing, USMC son being in Iraq. But, we move into a new house in October, and all of a sudden my humble little 2-channel rig comes alive...I realize that the last few upgrades I made in the old house actually inhibited the system and made it a painful listening experience. The new home's better insulation, larger rooms, higher ceilings, better acoustics = wonderful music listening experience, particularly to vinyl.

Needless to say, I am a MAD woman. I've spent more money in the last 3 weeks on LPs than I care to divulge on a public forum. However, let's qualify the statement: cds have been sold on half.com to fund my renewed love affair with vinyl. So, it's almost been an even exchange. There's been so many releases screaming "Buy Me! Buy Me!" that I finally have had to quit reading music review sites...at least for a few days. ;-)

In the last two days, I have had the rest of Iron & Wine's available vinyl screaming at me...so I ordered it! There is so many other releases that I want to order (Ryan Adams, and at least 15 other releases at insound.com)...patience please be my friend. ;-)

That's quite a list of vinyl goodies. Lots of good stuff. Did we ever talk about Over The Rhine before? I know I have a bunch, but don't know if you were ever part of the conversation. They put out a very nice and beautiful gatefold double LP a couple years ago and you'd probably love it since you're a big Fleetwood Mac fan. Did you like Tusk? That's probably as good a reference as any, but some Cowboy Junkies and some of that softer side of Ryan Adams previous band Whiskeytown. Lots of good music. Don't know how readily available it is these days nor whether you'd be interested, but if you are here's one place that has it just for reference. Hey! Did one of you sleazeballs scoop up my cheapo copy of that Brainiac CD on half.com? I'm getting pissed! Next time I better pull the trigger on the $4 CD before I blab about it being on the top of my list!

Hehehe, yeah right. Went over to half.com this morning and I could've sworn someone had a copy going in the $4 range last time I checked, think it was yesterday, but now the cheapest is $7. Snooze ya lose. How many times does it take before that simple lesson makes a dent in my hard hat? Oh well, what's a couple bucks? Interesting question though. What's your cutoff point for used and new differential? I can probably get it new for $10 or so, and like new for $7 or so. What would you do? Yeah, depends on shipping and tax and other ancillaries, but all else being equal, $3 is probably the cutoff point for me. Less than that differential and I'd probably go new. And you? Any rules?

There is one disk that grabbed me a couple of weeks ago. It's not a new release, but I somehow missed it last year. Warren Haynes (of Gov't Mule and Allman Bros fame), Live At Bonnaroo. It's headed your way - hope you like it, I think you will.

hey all, It's been a while.

I'm a little behind the times with my wish list. I'm still catching up from last year. Davey's really excellent Half Gone 2004 and Light So Dim comps get a ton of play from me and provide a whole mess of wish list material. Like Andrew Bird. I can't believe I don't own anything of his. Or Wayne Robbins. I downloaded 3 songs from their website(by dial-up) back when Davey was hyping The Lonesome Sea a while back. All great, but none compared to the delicious Edith's Dream. And Electrelane, how much do I love this band? So much, that it's not even on my wishlist. I actually paid retail for The Power Out. I never ever do that, but I just couldn't wait, and I'm not disappointed in the least.

I also really want Arcade Fire's Funeral, Pinback's Summer In Abandon, The Shin's Chutes Too Narrow and Oh, Inverted World. There's a bunch of others. I also was thinking that I'd like to get the 1999 Special Edition of the Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense. Or maybe it'd be better to just get the video on DVD(or even the Special Edition DVD)??? Anyone have an opinion? I'm not sure which way to go.

I don't have anything that's really calling out to me that I have to buy.

I give half-hearted looks at The Wolf Parade, when in my local store, but the pull isn't very strong. A friend played a disc from a band called Kasabian this weekend, that sounded interesting, and there's that one that Davey and Jim have mentioned as sounding more like Interpol, than Interpol, can't recall the name right now. Elbow is a possibility, but their first release didn't get that much playing time so they may not warrant another look. Should probably get some long-overdue follow-ups to first purchases from the likes of Pinback and Idlewild.

In addition to that, I'll look around and see what I can find. Could prolly use some more Spoon, for example. Been a while since my last binge...so I'm looking forward to it!

Hey John, nice to see you around. That Electrelane is so good. Thought it would've been much bigger on the indie scene and at places like this, what with the great dynamic recording by Steve Albini and mastering at Abbey Road by Steve Rooke, and their very solid musicianship, and their impeccable taste in musical influences, and the mix of familiar with the avant garde, the intelligence, and even a choir on "The Valleys"! Probably still my most often played album from last year, since when I put it on, it almost always gets a few plays

I kind of wish they had followed it up with something a little more similar to this than what they did on Axes, which I do like, but not nearly as much. Still on my "auto buy" list though.
