I seem to be flooded out with new releases recently courtesy of friends so my card and wallet have been spared, consequently my wishlist is kind of thin at the moment.
But one older release which has eluded me so far is the Twilight Singers - Blackberry Belle, it came out a few years ago and I never picked it up at the time so I expect I'll see it cheap second hand somewhere.
ps Ex Lion Tamer the band Dave and JC were talking about is The Editors same titled debut album. It's pretty good I like it.
pps Whooptee I'd go for the Talking Heads DVD over the CD, mine is the 1999 version, which I think is the 'special' edition version. Sound quality wise it's about the best live DVD money can buy (I can't believe it hasn't been overdubbed in the studio) and a great show too.

I caved in last week and ordered the Talking Heads new DualDisc box set because Tower had it 15% off and I got a coupon for an additional 20% off. $100 for 8 discs? Not too bad. Supposedly the DVD-A sides on the discs sound just stunning.

Just be careful with those -- I put one in my Sony carousel player, CD side down, and it totally scratched up the surface of the DVD side.

Hey Davey, it's good to be back. I've got a new job, so hopefully I'll have a little more spare time or at least not be so tired all the time.
I agree with you 100%. So Good! I knew I liked Electrelane after hearing their song on RRSV9, but the 2 songs on your Half Gone 2004 comp put them over the top for me. I had only given that comp a couple of cursory listens when I first got it, then I couldn't find it until about two months ago. Somehow, it got stuck in under a Built to Spill CD in its case. I'm so happy I found it, 'cause its a good one.
So's your Light So Dim. That BHP song was the perfect song to build that sort of comp around. Of course, having Edith's Dream as a centerpiece doesn't hurt either. And the Flaming Stars, Tindersticks, Califone and WGC help make that part of the comp a classic in my book. At first, I didn't like the Tindersticks in there, but now I couldn't imagine it any other way. The opening four song section is also inspired, with 50 Dresses being the perfect opener. What a good song! And of course the ending section is excellent as well. The Joy Division feels a little out of place, but hey, it's Joy Division, so I ain't complaining.

Glad you like Light So Dim, that is a nice comp. Almost put itself together in some respects, or at least I didn't put much thinking into it and it turned out OK anyway. Either way, I like it. Funny about that JD song, you're right of course, but I've been trying to shoehorn some Joy Division into each of my last few comps without success, so just said to myself on that one it's going in whether it fits or not. But after a few listens I liked it there. Tough to go that far back in time on a comp like this, such different production techniques and mastering and all. Had to add a lot of compression to try and get the volume up on it and give it that awful "modern" sound. And was only partially successful from that standpoint. But it kind of feels like the Black Heart Procession song to me so I wanted to use it as the bottom of the slide down to darkness before starting back up :)
Tried to get some feedback on Pavement's "Here" via the Tindersticks, but think Jar was the only one, and he was kind of meh. I love it, and also was kind of proud of that almost carnival-like transition from Edith's Dream. Yeah, I do a lot of stuff on these comps just for my own kicks, but that's OK ;)
