    I'm surprised...
Such little love for a true RnR Pioneer. He never did truely get his due always overshadowed by Chuck, Elvis and others. It was in the end, a sexual thing. I feel that Chuck was sexual but "safe". He suduced the young girls with a wink and a smile. Bo was too dangerous. He was the Mississippi Mamba, da Bayou Blacksnake. He was too big, too black, too earthy.. That "Didley Beat" was too sensual, too primal for 1950's America. It is one of these most infectious beats ever devise. So deep and dark as to make a church deacon strip of his clothes and dance naked round a campfire.

    This I know.

The maracas & other percussion not heard in other well-known 50s rock-n-roll recs, as a generalization, may have had something to do with it. Congas here & there, heavy sustaining ring on toms. Just a thought.

I saw Bo 4 or 5 times & he never disappointed. I don't have much beyond Chess comps & Gunslinger, but his contributions are usually under-represented.
