I would vote for two of them.
Joaquin Phoenix doing Johnny Cash in 'Walk the Line', or Michelle Pfeiffer as the call girl turned torch singer in 'The Fabulous Baker Boys'. Oh, now wait, they were only acting as singers. Never mind.

Of course, his stoic counterpart had some chops as well...

This one is tough. Still thinking, but how about Juliette Lewis (Juliette and the Licks Like a Bolt of Lightning)?

    Lee Marvin - "Wand'rin Star".

Stone, are you being facetious or sincere? I haven't heard that record. The Zooey Deschanel "She & Him" thing with M. Ward was pretty catchy, though (or at least the single was).

How does it rate against Scarlett Johansson's Tom Waits tribute? Speaking of Tom Waits, how about musicians turned actors? He's got some pretty great character parts on his resume including Short Cuts, Coffee & Cigarettes, and Mystery Men, and I heard he's in that zombie Heath Ledger movie The Imaginarium or whatever that's coming out soon...

Sincere. I like that album a lot. It's a fun pop record.

Oh I second that, saw them live a few years back. Awesome! You never cease to amaze Mr. noob. Anyhow, she's a far cry away from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
