    Beer Talk Time!

No, not quite beer drinking time yet since it's just turning noon in my part of the universe, but help find some new beer to try this weekend. I'm gonna try and pick up an Imperial Stout, probably a Samuel Smith's since that might be the only one I can find. Had some of that thick dark brown elixir once before and it was pretty memorable. Feel the urge to try it again. Maybe need something lighter to follow it up with so give me some suggestions for a good winter ale or a pilsener or lager or ....? Any and all suggestions welcome and appreciated, but if you have something that is available outside of your own little burg, all the better.

Rogue Mocha Porter or Rogue Shakespeare Stout, if you like the drinks with the viscosity of motor oil. My favourites.

How did you get that beer to be to the left of your sig?

Pretty common, but if you are looking for something a bit lighter, you could try a Hefe-Weizen. I like Paulaner myself. Their Hefe-Weizen is available just about anywhere and is one of my favorites.

Then again, I drink a whole lot of domestic piss water, so what would I know?

    Mmm.....mmmm.....mmmm..... Beer
I have always been a little partial to Abita Amber Ale. Made in Abita Springs, Loiusiana. I love this stuff. There's also Abita Turbodog which is a little stouter, but not as good in my opinion. Probably nothing compared to the Imperial though. In the Texas area, alot of people drink Shiner Bock. It's cheap and one hell-uv-a beer. It would not be considered a "exotic" though. The garage fridge is filled with it at all times.

    Happy Drinkin!

I ditto both of JSE's suggestions
Damn that Abita Amber is a fine beer, not so Turbo Dogs. Also, we too keep lots of Shiner Bock in the garage fridge. Check out Sams, they might have it, or Kroger. Avoid the Shiner Blonde.

A nice stout I'ce had recently would be McKesson's (sp?) XXX Triple Stout. Had it at a beer tasting last weekend, it was generally praised by the guys, the girls wanted to barf, so thats a pretty good recommendation IMHO. Not as bitter and heavy as Turbo Dog or Guiness, pretty smooth actually.

Have you tried Sam Adam's Winter Lager?
It's one of my favorites and, while it's not exactly motor oil, it does have a full-bodied flavor and is perfect for this time of year. Then again, you're out in sunny AZ while I'm in frozen PA, so maybe you could give two sh**s about "Winter Lager". My other favorites are all local micro-brews that you can't buy out there, so there's no point in mentioning them.

Tonight it's Pirates of the Carribean and some Sam's Winter Lager for me.

    Regards,

    Rogue it is mate
I also give a thumbs up to the Rogue Porter, Stout, or Dead Guy Ale (depending on your preference). And while not new, Mr. Adams stays stocked in my garage refrigerator.

Hope it is warm and sunny in the desert. It's cold and rainy, almost snowy, here.

Bummer, I just checked and Boulevard Brewing Co. doesn't go any farther west than Kansas. They have their Pale Ale as their flagship product and it would have been perfect for your follow up. This time of year they also produce their Nutcracker Ale described as:" Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard's special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops."

Availablity can be found here: http://www.blvdbeer.com/product_set.html

Mmmmmm, that does look good, Jimbo. Six pack in a box, cool :)

Did you upload that pic from your computer? Because if it was on the web already you don't have to attach it (which loads a copy onto this server), just use the img /img tags with [] or click the image box on the toolbar to do it automatically. Of course, some sites don't allow third party links so you'd have to attach the image here. But what do I care, anyway? :)

I drink like a fish so I drink Michelob Light.

I usually drink 45 beers a day, too.

Yes, I saved the pic to my HD and then uploaded it from there. This was my first attempt at adding a pic and if you can see it I'm happy. I finally just figured out the old board, now they go and change it. I'll go back later and try to figure out what your instructions are and try that next time around. Thanks for the pointer.

Hehehe, good luck. They don't even make sense to me! :)

Seriously, just go down to the Forum Rules box and click on either vB code or [IMG] which will take you to the how to page at http://forums.audioreview.com/misc.php?do=bbcode. There is also an "Insert Image" icon in the formatting toolbar above the text box when typing your post to make it even easier. Have fun.

Just trying the click on the "insert image icon". I think the other looks way to hard for me. If it works, thanks. If not, thanks for trying.

    Slosh
    I'm a simpleton
I like my beer to taste like beer, not honey or cherry or whatever. I also prefer lagers and my fave is Hofbrau Muchin lager. Their Oktoberfest lager is good too, although I'll take the plain ole lager if given a choice (can't always find it :( ). They have a bit of bite yet manage to stay smooth.

I guess I like the common stuff mostly:
    Sam Adams (any variety)
    Heiney
    Fosters (ND ;) )
    Corona
Harp (about as "hoppy" as I'll go)
    Becks

    ~Slosh - snowed in and sippin' a Fosters with tentoze's mighty fine alt/country-tinged year-end comp a spinnin' :)

My favorite is Young's Oatmeal Stout. It's a stout like the Sammy Smith but it's lighter in body but still very flavorful. Not like motor oil at all. But I tend to like the stouts and porters particularly Guiness, Big Shoulders Porter, Samuel Smith's, etc. Hey, there's an idea - if they have the Imperial Stout, try the Sammy Smith Nut Brown Ale. Lighter but a nice rush/burst of flavor.

Happy drinking! I'm doing the draught Guiness in a bottle at the moment!

Give "La Fin du Monde" a try. It's a big bold brew that packs a wallop! For the Francais-impaired that name means "The End of the World". Really.

<img align=left src=http://www.anchorbrewing.com/images/christmas_2003_bottle_ns.jpg>What beermaiden link? I couldn't find one, so I did a search on got this, which I doubt is what you meant.

I also got this, and, although fun, linking to it wouldn't be half as fun.

Oh, and I almost forgot, it's time for all the Xmas brews to start coming out, so you should seek out and find at least one bottle of Anchor's Christmas Brew, best drunk ice cold.

    <img align=right src=http://www.schwarze-schlichte.de/produkte/flaschen/honig_bjaeger.gif>Currently drinking Bärenjäger, a honey-based liqueur. Dam it is good.

Well I guess it wasn't obvious enough, hidden as the URL in my example code. But your web search turned up the same beer maiden as my web search. It is kinda scary that we tend to think alike. Not sure which one of us it should scare most, though :)

Yeah, that Anchor Steam is some good stuff. Cool bottle on that Bärenjäger. Some sake bottles have wood stops kinda like that. Do you ever freeze that stuff, or is it better at room temp?
