    Anyone else like Atreyu?

I have to admit my daughter turned me on to this band. I have Lead Sails Paper Anchor. This album is labelled Metal but it definitely has Alternative influences. A few songs feature some decent lead guitar and even fringes of Prog. I like the album quite a bit. Although I don't like their cover of Faith No More's, Epic. It's the last song so it may have just been filler anyway. Track 3 is the song getting radio play, I think because it's the one that sounds most Alternative. My stand out tracks would be #2, #6 & #10. I can't really think of any one to compare them to right now so you will just have to give them a listen.

Never heard of them but I'll have to look them up. It sounds interesting. How old is your daughter?

My stepson (14) is into these guys, and knowing other current stuff he likes, I've stayed away from them. Maybe I'll give them a try.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

I'd rather listen to The Nothing.

Atreyu reminds me why I miss Al Jourgenson.

Not really my cuppa but it's acceptable. They're competent and strike a decent balance between cookie monster and melody. I suspect you would like Avenged Sevenfold who, one the whole, are a much better band and produce much better sounding albums as well. Plus, The Rev can smash some drums up.

I flirt with prog-metal occasionally but on the whole I prefer my R&R to be a bit on the seedy side...

I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

Hey, here's the newest one from Avenged Sevenfold, Mr. P.

Some of their older stuff is heavier, like say, this:

Partay on wit' yo bad self.

This is just one band I can't get get into so much for whatever reason, even though this is the kind of workin' out, rental car abusin', late-night report writin', stuff I normally like. Maybe it's time I gave'em another shot? So, what album's good?

FA, trying to do some math She's 22. Would you believe I was a very early parent?

They do tend to scream but I wouldn't call their vocals Cookie Monster. Not in the same way as Tristania, or Isis or Opeth etc.

Kex, I was almost with you until I gave the album a good listen. I think what hits us first is the boyish, or the typical Alternative style vocals you hear today. Once past that the music and the tunes won me over.
