    Line-Out on an iPod
    Hi...

How does one access the line-out on an Apple iPod?

    I have a new 80gb version.

I've been plugging into my stereo directly through the headphone out.

I understand plugging in through a line level out is preferable.

    Please advise!

    Thanks,

You just need a special cable, the line out is on that same part where it docks. You could also get it from a dock.

    Special cable, eh?

    Sounds like special tobacco.

    ;-)

Where do I get one of these special cables?

Any preferences or are they all the same?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi todd.

the best way to do this is probably to buy an apple stereo dock, or, a third party dock. even though the headphone out may not have perfect frequency responce, the line out most certainly does.

    Hope this help!

Do you need a whole docking station or is it possible to make the
connection with just a special cable?

Since I'm plugging the iPod into my stereo...I would prefer not to add
an extraneous docking station to the area.

    Thanks!
