    Krell's $1200 iPod dock
well, its pretty much one of the most expensive accessories out there.

    Krell iPod dock.
it looks like it has a pair of midi outs, some other stuff too.

so we get to listen to crappy compressed tracks and hear every single one of those beautiful artifacts!!

(well, i suppose one could use lossless tracks...)

(PS: for those of you who have this idea that the iPod has a bass response flaw, whether its true or not, the line out on the dock connector does NOT have that problem, response if perfectly flat.)

In my experience it's very true, or was. The newer players are much improved.

also, I'm pretty sure I saw an even more expensive iPod dock/DAC gadget from another company around 6 months ago.

haha, ya, probably, um... but what about those cars with iPod docks? if you own the iPod first, and buy the car cause it had the dock...does that mean you wasted $20,000 on an iPod dock?

edit: yes, the bass problem was with the third generation iPod, (i own one) it isn't TOO bad in my opinion, but it is noticable. I did not find any of this in my 5th gen.

    LMAO :)

for $1200, wouldn't you be better off with a good cd player then? Ipods are good for what they are made, as a PORTABLE musicplayer, like when you're out taking a walk and you go like 'geez, I could use some music now' and then you use it, not in your multi-$$$ system

For $1200 I could get a pretty good CD player and some room treatments. And that might not use it all up. There's a fair bit you can do with $1200 depending on what you're after, a high price throne for an iPod (which thankfully I don't even own) wouldn't be one of them.

For $1200, I should be able to dock with it as well as my IPod.
