    Hope I did o.k.
I picked up some MP3 players for the nephews:

IRiver U10's... I really didn't know what I was doing and did not want to spend a lot. These are primarily for playing music. Sound quality was an issue. Also, I did not want a big-memory piece of junk. These were 1G units, they were closeouts.

Hope they like them. Hope they are cool. Cool is tough for me to judge!

I did check this website, however, and IRiver seemed to be well regarded, if not a bit expensive. We'll see...

iRivers aren't the cheapest, but IMO the features, build and sound quality make up for it.

I own an iHP-120 which is over 3 years old now and still going strong, I also just picked up a 4gb Clix which is the next generation of the U10. I think they will enjoy the U10s quite well. They're attractive, easy to use and have a neat interface.

yupp, iRiver comes #2 in my top non-ipod brand MP3 player makers... right after the deceased Rio, they made the best players ever, some as good as, if not better than the iPod...

Depends on your criteria I suppose, I think iRiver and Rio make better players than the iPod :)

    edit: well Rio did

So what happened to Rio? It figures the good one goes under.
