A gamecock, to all you lazybones not willin' to do the research, is an alternate term for a fighting chicken. Gamecocks are leaner and meaner than docile barnyard denizens, and are groomed to be especially territorial and aggressive. Often, to enhance their ferocity and "for show", gamecocks were outfitted with spikes. In this part of the country, the sport was quite popular....

The University of South Carolina's mascot is the gamecock.

    Strange for an audio enthusiast
It's a little strange that I had absolutely no interest in music during high school or most university. I guess because nobody in my family was interested at all.

This is a true story: while riding the bus home from classes I over heard a Jewish lady bragging about her son, the doctor, to another Jewish lady. One of her bragging points was that he had spontaneously development an interest in classical music despite there never being any interest among family members. Some how that stuck with me; I figured if the good doctor could handle classical music, I could too.

A few months after I graduated I bought a Sony cassette player. As I recall, my first music purchase, or one of the first, was a pre-recorded cassette of Wendy (then still Walter) Carlos' Switched On Bach.

Ain't she the one who interprets classical music with a synth? If I am correct she arranged 'Funeral of Queen Mary' by Henry Purcell for the first scene of A Clockwork Orange. A genuinly haunting and chilling scene to me. I visioned the film a couple weeks ago for the first time to see what all the fuss was about.. what a film:eek6:

Yeah, she's the one. A Clockwork Orange is a favorite of mine though I haven't seen it quite a while. (I must "zip" it at Zip.ca for a re-watch.)

I'd like to get a copy of Carlos' version of the Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary. I have a conventional version which is spooky enough but, as I recall, the movie version was much more dramatic.

Walk in circles. The radius depends on how far out of phase they are.

I was tempted to ask what your type of fetish is, but I'm afraid I'll hear something similar to SVI's classic post about his white glove adventures...
