My neighbor is constantly *****in about Comcast, and the expense. She got her bill, and was telling my wife cable, internet and showtime/HBO was $179!!! for the month.
I have cable internet, DirecTV (and the HD package), NO pay channels, and I only pay about $135 for the whole bunch.
Yeah I thought about it. Probably should have looked further into it but......
Comcast has a phone/TV/internet thing going so I get all 3 for $175. This is unlimited phone, HBO/Starz, 3 HD boxes w/one being a DVR. They just added some more HD channels but like you, I find myself watching the same few channels. I've had the service for so long that I just got use to them. My wife is happy too. She seems to be having trouble adjusting to the new service.
I was always impressed with their HD quality and I'm not under a contract so I can always give something else a try in the future.

Oh, okay. I must've missed that. I notice a similar audio problem once-in-a-while too, but not very frequently. But I still stand behind my FIOS service. :o

With Uverse I pay $114 plus taxes (so about $124/month) for premium cable, HD, Sports Package, All the movie channels, DVR and internet. Granted mine works great. If I had LJ's problems, I would trash it as well.

I assume Uverse includes voice services?

Yup. I decided to try Uverse before going with the Comcast triple play offer because I was hoping for overall improvement in service. $170($144 with a boat load of misc charges and taxes) with uverse got me unlimited phone/internet/TV with 4 HD boxes & 1 DVR. They said a 2nd HD stream was coming soon with the ability to watch recorded DVR content on any TV with a box. Hasn't happened yet and I'm not waiting around for it.
Last night I was watching the Lakers game and the freakin' thing tried to kick me off so American Idol could record for my wife. I had to stop the recording and she had to watch AI on another TV in SD. I didn't think the 1 HD stream was a big deal but with the NBA playoffs going on......

I get the sense that marital difficulties have been averted by your decision not to wait around. Witnessed by your second paragraph.

 Something like that. I did watch some of the regular season games in SD...but come on man, this is the playoffs ;)

Basketball games, hockey games, NASCAR and even golf  are the sports I think look best in HD.

Sweet glorious HD. It's back and it looks GREAT. Comcast came hooked me back up and man what a difference. I got that WOW factor back baby. And they even added more HD channels in the few months I was gone. Music choice is a big plus as well. I'm just shocked at the difference in HD quality. AT&T got a good thing going but they need to step it up in my area.
Well thanks for the help JSE & ......what's his name again.....oh yeah RICH.

In JSE's case it was the Shiner Bock beer doing the talking.

Well I tried Uverse a year ago and tomorrow is round 2. They seemed to have improved on some of the issues I had with them a year ago so here we go again. They now have the 2 promised HD streams coming into the house and something new called total house DVR. Comcast has bumped pricing again and I can basically get the same service a LOT cheaper through AT&T. They have some sweet promotions going on too. $200 cash back after 8 weeks of service. Hard to turn down $200 for trying out 2 months of HDTV

Yep, their bandwidth has expanded. Much more user friendly now.
Whole House DVR is also nice. You can watch anything on your DVR from any receiver in your house. Very cool.
Hopefully better luck this time. Let us know how it goes.

After I get my $200 I may just cancel all services and run basic antenna service to the house for $13.99. I have a LOT invested in DVD & BR so I'm just gonna make use of my video library. Also my wife and I don't watch too much TV anymore. Now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time the TV in my bedroom was even turned on :wink5:
