moisture behind eardrum

I've been having this for a few weeks now, and I went to the doctor (It was starting to get annoying, feels like something is constantly pushing on your eardrum and sounds like you're having a really bad cold on one side only).
the doctor told me to take some pills to clear up the slimes in front of my eustachian tube, fast forward one week, I'm at the last pill and things didn't become better. actually, even worse
It's darn annoying, beside the fact that you actually feel it pushing against your eardrum, it actually causes a hearing loss at that side (which is normal, the moisture prevents the eardrum from moving freely) so all focus & imaging is pretty much gone now

so...
anyone had any experience with this?

I get fluid in the ear occasionally. I try to control it with antihystomenes but sometimes when the allergies are bad it takes something more. Some doctors don't like using them but if it's bad I've had steroids prescribed to reduce swelling and to help dry up the fluid.

I get a little on edge when anything effects my ears. It would be devastating not to be able to enjoy my hobby to it's fullest. Be sure to go back and tell your doctor what he gave you didn't do the trick. The fluid could have caused an infection and some antibiotics are called for. No alcohol with antibiotics, it kills the effect.

How is the ear doing? I've personaly never has any trouble with my ears, except sometimes in planes on the way down i've had serious pressure issues that would kill them. I try pressurising them but doesn't do anything. I hate when it happens, it feels like your ear drum is going to burst.

yeah, had that on planes too, this is like the same, only from the other side of the eardrum...
It doesn't really feel yet like it's going to burst, but there is a noticable hearing loss at my left ear caused by the moisture...

I feel it less then in the week, so I hope it's gone soon...
just to be sure, we're going to see the ear doctor somewhere next week, see what he says...

Don't fiddle with your ears....don't stick anything smaller than your elbow or a 'cotton bud' in them.

Your music lovin has increased you own body's response by producing more WAX to combat what it sees as an intrusion on the normal functions of your ears!

Either get them syringed or just keep away from the Boom Boom.

Had my own ears checked out big style after explosion......they're sacred.

Man, I'm back from seeing Rob Zombie tonight and my ears are ringing like crazy. What is it they say, if it's too loud, you are too old. I think I'm getting old. It was a killer show though. It scares me when my ears do this.

the ringing sound is a sign that the ears have been 'overloaded', and then the brain generates this sound to compensate the temporal hearing loss...

better get some good sleep now and easy on that volume knob tomorrow

My ears seem to be 'better' now, the moisture is still there, but I feel less pressure. should still see an ear specialist though...

There's no doubt that your ears are precious objects and should be treated with 'cotton gloves' particularly in your early years.

Unfortunately age has an effect on your luggs so be prepared for some sort of hearing loss as you get older Basite. At the moment you are doing the right thing by seeking expert advice at an early stage. It is easy for us to joke at someone your age worrying about your problem. Just you keep on checking them out.

From the posts I've read of yours I would say that if you choose to continue with Hi-Fi throughout your life then you owe it to yourself to look after you 'shell-likes'.

If you are still on your dad's health insurance then find yourself a hearing specialist who will put you through hearing tests at various intervals throughout your life - 'cause I see you as someone who will go far, possibly as a hi-fi reviewer


I once had a 'Vertigo' attack where I completely lost my balance, vomitted consistantly whilst trying to move around on my hands and knees...all down to fluid in my inner ear. A couple of pills later I was jumping around!

What you describe is something minor but the fact that you value your hearing is to be commended from someone your age.

In later years, when I'm shuffling around on my zimmer in some nursing home, I'll be able to say..."see that guy Basite in those there magazines, I helped him look after his ears!

(partly) losing my hearing (even at one side) at a young age like mine would be disasterous for me. Lots of people say I have good ears, I hear differences amazingly fast and such, and hate it when something is not well placed (like when a voice isn't coming precisely out of the middle when it should...). A Hifi magazine reviewer would be nice, very nice indeed

Do me a favour, get a hold of a CD by a Spanish group "Radio Tarifa", called 'TEMPORAL'.

Listen to track 4 - "Baile de Almut".

It is a percussion hand-drum session which I use as a reference for testing speakers, in particular artist placement. It covers a wide range of bass harmonics and I have found that if I have reason to test new speakers or speaker placement it's invaluable.

Let me know how many different drums, (or players), that you hear.

Don't know if this will help but it could possibly be a start. See about having your ears irrigated. I did in November and I'm amazed at how much high freqency info I was missing. If the pressure is external like wax build up this will take care of it. Best wishes.

nope, it's not ear wax (that's what I first thought), it's from behind the eardrum, my eustachian tube is 'blocked' and moisture is building up behind the eardrum, just like a prop of earwax, but from the other way around...

it's better then a week ago, but still not gone... it's not getting worse so that's a good thing...
