RIP Boogeyman

I wouldn't imagine that many have you have followed it but Derek Boogaard of the New York Rangers was found dead yesterday at 28 years of age. He was both a consumate professional on the ice and a gentleman off-ice.

This is being played up like a chronic traumatic encephalopathy issue by a clamoring media. I have the feeling they're wrong. I think this is going to be just as tragic but a bit different than the Probert deal.

I think we're going to be reading about substance abuse. Addiction to painkillers is a silent epidemic in this country and every bit as devastating as the much publicized meth culture. I think Boogaard was receiving counseling through NHL/NHLPA Behavorial Health/Substance Abuse Program at the time of his death.

This just makes me sick and sad at the same time.
