    Mr Peabody
    Need some computer/software help
Friends tell me that Winzip is a free download. The official site says Winzip was never free. I can get a 30 day trial, or technically it can be free if you buy something from a list of companies or some such BS. It never was a concern but now I find myself needing it more often. Usually about the time the 30 days runs out :)

So where did you all get your Winzip? Why didn't this come with my computer like all the other Microsoft software? If it's free, where do I get it? Tell me what to do.

You can get Winzip at http://www.winzip.com/index.htm.

Winzip was never free, technically, but time was you could download Winzip on trial without an expiry however this might have changed. Nowadays I usually use 7-Zip with is genuine freeward and will pack and unpack standard ZIP files or its own, slightly more compact 7Z format: check it out HERE.

WinZip has ceased being free. I have been using 7-Zip instead. It's free. It works and acts like WinZip. Do a Google search for it.
