How's your flooding?

It looks like I'll be sleeping under my desk tonight. Many roads and bridges are closed in my area due to the heavy rains. I don't see a path home for me other than to drive north to Canada and back down though Ohio and around the other side of PA.
How does your commute look?

How was your skiing over the winter?

what skiing? there wasn't any snow here, and nor where there any mountains to ski on...

winter sucked here, even worse so, because the winter sucked, the flies and other insects never completely left, so now there are alot of those darn flies...

We just have a light drizzle here today. But, apparently, other parts of the the Province are getting hit hard with a large amounts of snow and rain and lots of power outages.

We had a big freak flash flood here two summers ago. The only reason that I made it home was because I drive an SUV. Screw all the people who pooh pooh big cars. Without it I would have probably stalled in a flooded intersection like all the other cars. Instead, I cruised through it all and made it home where I could mop up the basement before any real damage was done.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm about 5 hours from the border. It would be easier to stay here and try Kex's (via Al Bundy) trick.

That explains why I drove to work today with my wipers and my sun-glasses on at the same time. It was a little strange. Floods everywhere, rain coming down, sun shining bright, and the ducks going freakin' crazy. Never saw ducks swimming on their backs before.
Does this mean the world is ending?

Rivers have been at or near flood stage here in the Kansas City area for the past several days. The rain has let up, so things will be better, but two days ago [the last time I looked] the Missouri River was still out of its banks. Sadly, last weekend we let our pet map turtle go in a stream north of here, not knowing the forecast very well, and the next morning, the same stream was a torrent. We had had her since she was a hatchling, but decided that she needed a chance for a real life. We should have waited another couple of weeks, after having her for eight years. I hope the best for her, but feel badly...
