How will you be bringing in 2011?
So what's up for New Year's Eve folks? Quiet night in with family? Big bash of a party? Bungie jumping off a big cliff (Adam)?

We'll be bringing in the new year with some good friends who we've spent the last several new year's eves with. We rotate whose house its at each year. This year is not our house, which means that I have to be a good girl so that I can get my husband home safely (or vice versa, we haven't done the coin flip yet).

    Having a Key Party

Really just driving down to the beach, Spring Lake NJ, to spend a quiet night with good friends and playing in the snow on the beach if it doesn't melt too fast.

Just dancin' with myself. Oh and some Champagne, of course, not sparkling wine.

There are actually 2 wineries in the US that are allowed to make Champagne and I visited one earlier this month.

There were only 4 of us on the tour and it was one of the better ones due to it's history with Atlantic City and Prohibition. We sampled close to 16 wines which were all very good.

Just staying home with the wife and kid. We'll watch TV and play video games till the ball comes down.
Maybe a little wine, but not much.

At midnight I'll likely be asleep in my bed. Before that I shall partake of a few hors d'oeuvres (from President's Choice) and a glass or two of hard cider (from BC Growers) with my immediate family.

Nothing fancy this year. WIfe can't drink so we won't go out. Probably invite a few people over and wait for clock to tick its way to 2011.

    Happy New Years everyone!!!

As quoteth the man (in another thread) this year has been easily the worst year of my life for a variety of reasons...very much ready for a new year and a new beginning...and in anticipation of such there's bound to be some sure enough trouble rollin' 'round these parts...

Spent new years ever with the gf and 5 other chinese girls eating hot pot and singing Karaoke...well watching them sing haha. Couldn't understand a single word but it's hilarious to see how crazy and into it they all get. Had a good time.

Sounds like a night of hanging out with my wife and her Philippine friends. But WTH is 'hot pot'? Is it something you would find in a special brownie?

    Nah, I wish Gmichael lol!

It's a big pot full of mild cantonese style broth brought to a slow boil with a smaller pot in the middle with much spicier broth (sometimes the bowl is split in half). Then you just start throwin whichever food you want in to cook. After it cooks you put it into your own little hand bowl with a mixture of soy sauce or sesame oil and garlic. We had tara root, ham, rice balls, lotus, winter watermelon, clams, egg thingies, mushrooms, beef, etc...I liked some of the stuff but then others just had too much of a weird consistency/texture for me to handle.

I had an ex who is Pinay as well but she couldn't cook worth a lick.

Sounds like an adventure. I find my wife & friend's food a little unusual too. Some is great, but a lot of it is just... well.... ya'know. Sometimes she makes this fish stew that stanks up our house like you wouldn't believe. I call it 'yuck soup'. She has learned to use Google to find more western recipes though. She’s gotten much better over the years. And she knows not to make yuck soup inside the house. Thank all that’s good in the world for BBQ cookers!

At least you didn't get a big honkin' bag of balut...

In any case, it sounds like a great way to ring in the New Year. Perhaps the only way to make it better (and remain true to theme) would have been to jump in the fray with one of these:

Peace my man, and a prosperous year to you and yours...:cornut:

Me and the wife went to a bar (that sold reserved seats) and we had a prime rib dinner and then we danced to a so-so band. The bar served chilli at midnight (why I don't know).
