'Honeymooner' Art Carney dead at 85
Actor Art Carney, best known as the awkward, endearing sidekick to the late Jackie Gleason in the 1950s television series The Honeymooners, has died aged 85. He won five Emmy awards for his role on The Honeymooners.

Privately, Carney was a shy man who fought a long battle with depression and alcoholism.

    Art Carney
Smokey, he certainly was a terrific actor. He also won on Oscar for the movie HARRY AND TONTO. It is funny that he played Santa Claus in a made for tv movie with Jacklyn Smith and what I consider one of the best TWILIGHT ZONE episodes made(Serling recorded this episode on videotape rather than film) and a great XMAS story to boot, THE NIGHT OF THE MEEK.

    What hurt him most......
I think what hurt him the most when he was not casted in the Neil Simon movie the Odd Couple since he was already playing that roll (Felix) on stage with Walter Matthau. . But as you know, Jack Lemmon got that role.

Who knows. May be if they had given him that role in the movie, his career might have took off again like George Burns did-after doing the movie Oh God!. Oh well :)

    ED Norton
    RIP - Ed Norton.

There's usually a "Honeymooners" marathon on TBS or FOX on New Years Day.

I remember an episode that played a few years back on the MYD marathon.

Ralph won a chance to appear on a "Name that tune" TV show. Ed helped him practice for the show. Norton was playing the upright piano in Ralphs apartment.

Every song Ed played started out the same for the first six notes and tempo, then he went into whatever tune it was. Each time Norton started a song, Kramden would wind up just a little tighter......until finally he exploded and threw Norton out of his apartment.......what a scream!!!!
