Kex I am not sure how I missed this thread. Sounds like a rough time with your injuries. I hope you will be back to the healthy you soon. I could never much empathize with pain until I flipped the mountain bike down the wooded hill. All of a sudden at 52 I was feeling 82. Those were my first real injuries and long term pain. Pain and reduced ability to move sucks.

Nevertheless, if you have an informed and educated trainer or PT (Physical Therapist), get him or her to show you exercises that will continue to keep you toned but without the strain of weight bearing. Your previous exercizing probably protected you from further or more severe injury. Again, move slowly and stay on top of the pain. And keep away from the sauce! You know better. Increase your protein intake and stay hydrated. Chances are you are more sedentary and may become somewhat constipated as a result. Increase your fibre and walk about. This will also protect your air-exchange and enhance your self-esteem which may have taken a bounce....
Geez you're giving this away for free!!!

Hmm. I don't think I could get much more protein in but I certainly could do more fibre. I have a bowl of dried oats every morning for breakfast but other than a side of salad I probably don't get much. I'm diabetic so I watch the carbs and sugar more than the fiber, I know that fibre doesn't spike my sugar though so I'm game. I snack on nuts all the time..some fiber in that too IIRC. I'm babbling now...blaming that on the drugs.

Self esteem remains at an all-time high, though I'm afraid.

I'll figure out the workout stuff later...I figured 2 weeks but now I think I'm going to err on the side of caution and aim for 4 before I do anything more than cardio, we'll see how it goes. I don't want to re aggravate it again and put myself out of the gym another 2-3 weeks cause I rushed it.

Thanks for all the tips Auri...it's a treat to get info from someone in the know who isn't also nagging me as loving family is known to do.

Hey JM...thanks for stopping by. And, uuch, that hurts just reading about it. Never fun.
Me and bikes don't do so well...I can wipe out on stationaries.

I'm not gonna whine too much here, everyone goes through these little obstacles and I'm very fortunate that's all I have to worry about. But yeah, being immobile and in pain does suck. Thank goodness for Jazz.

    Cheers!

    Kex,

Don't you manage to hurt yourself at least once every winter? What was it last year again?

Still sorry to read about this year's accident. Get better soon buddy.

Yeah, seems I'm always doing something stupid. This one wasn't my fault though. Last big injury I remember was my breaking my fingers/hand playing softball but maybe I forgot something last year...oh wait, yeah, I tore my rotator cuff shoveling snow...

You make it sound like I'm injury prone...

I was thinking that it would be all your injuries that make you seem injury prone. But I could be mistaken. (not that I should talk)

Get better quick. And next time, tell them to keep the puck away from you.

So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"
