do you have a link? I almost picked up the Sony for $399, 2 movies + 5 that was in my most recent B.B. add. For $299 I'm in! I was thinking about waiting it out until after X-Mass.

I think Sony's simply matching Samsung's new price point. Samsung just last week lowered the list price on their BD-P1400 to $299, with Amazon selling it for $279.

No link, just saw it in salepapers for two stores, Circuit city and HHgreg.
The sale papers are in this thing called a newspaper, had them before they invented the net.
I think the panny is still 400 bucks.
I was going to wait for 200$ but with bladerunner coming out I might just have to bite the bullet and go with it.
I figured I lost enough blood with a tv that cost 1,000, and now sells for 800.
AFTER Christmas there just MIGHT BE A "WINDOW" of 199, if you get in line at five in the morning. I'm getting a 100 buck giftcard, was going to a harddrive for my neverending server project, but at these price points its getting tempting.
AND I dont think its any coinkydink that this happened right after news of toshibas
    bleeding out of every orrifice.
If this isnt intended as a "killshot" then I never saw one

I went to B.B. yesterday (to get The Road to Escondido C.D. which I've only partially listened to so far, but I'm a fan of it, then I got the Les Claypool Live 2nd set of Pink Floyd's Animals album b/c it's better sound quality than my live bootleg version, then I got the Les Claypool 5 Gallons of Diesel DVD, but I digress) I saw the Sony Blu for $299 and sat there for AWHILE, but my wife beat me up pretty bad on the way out of the house telling me ONLY GET THE CD..... (of course I got two plus the DVD) I didn't want to push my luck and get a new DVD player.... Maybe I'll be one of those fools at 5am in line!

I have watched plenty of both HD and Bluray movies and I think HD is much better looking. I dont like the grainy look of Blu. I am totally unbiased as I like the PS3 better than the xbox but in all honesty I would buy an hd player...
