Cool Heres' a dare, beat this deal

A buddy of mine had his Visio go out(after it fell five inches onto concrete)
While talking to the guy at Sams they gave him a store credit on the three year old TV!!
    1800 BUCKS.
He got a 46" sony, threw in a few bucks (134) and also got a 37" Vizio for his bedroom.
    BEAT THAT DEAL.
Anyway the SONY was my dream TV, rich color, good black level, geometric
    distortion zero, a beautiful monitor.
But he didnt like it, wasnt "bright" enough, so sunday its back to SAM'S.
He really wanted the Sharp 52" but it wouldn't fit(if it wont fit you're in the s**t!).
So he got a Samsung 46", which narrowly won out over aa 120hz Vizio 46".
After setting it up for him we watched a movie, its really a nice set.
The guy told me they used to have ten models of plasma but now only had two,
    A pioneer 60" (not a Kuro) and a 46 SAMSUNG.
They looked really dim and somewhat pathetic next to the bright screens of the LCD sets.
But to be honest the area wasnt really conducive to plasma , it was a bright area,
I can see why most PLASMA sales are places where they can be set up in the proper enviroment.
But the darkness of these screens really surprized me, even after taking the bright room into account.
As for the LCD sets, they were all very close, my friend kept asking me and I had to be honest, I liked the sony we bought back the best.
The Samsung was second best, IMHO.
Sad to see no DLP , but not surprized.
And only one JVC, they have really lost ground during their hopeless D-ILA battle.
The mass market is a sea that specialty gear floats on, and it looks like the current is going towards LCD.
