xbox HT sound
Hooked up my xbox to my yamaha rxv-2400 for the sound, was wondering why my receiver won't pick up the signal from the xbox. but i can hear it threw all speakers, only my sub is not turning on??

What do you have the sound setting on for your AVR?
For most gaming gear I recommed DPL/DPLII
-
Are you using the optical connection?

xbox should come through in DD 5.1 if you have the setup. you need the upgrade sound/video kit.

Hey Pizzakid, most of the games out there are still not 5.1 sound or true HD. Very few, that is why I said he should keep his setting in DPL, that way he will get the surround sound no matter how he has it hooked up RCA or Optic. The question about his sub may go back in how he has his speakers set (if set to large you may not get sub output).

I'm pretty sure the majority of Xbox games are indeed 5.1

better read the back of the box, just because it says Dolby Digital don't mean 5.1

Sorry, I just can't remember ever playing an Xbox game that was NOT 5.1...that's a pretty basic feature. Even the games I bought with it on launch day were in 5.1, but I'm sure there are some that are not. I'm just saying I think the majority of them are.
And reading the back of the box does not say anyhing about 5.1 or not..it just says Dolby Digital, whether it be 2.0 or 5.1

I can't remember a game without DD 5.1
I can't remember if I had to setup the optical out or not for the games but I know I had to for XBMC.
I know in XBMC if I kept the sound to analog with the optical out it wouldn't send anything to the subwoofer.

i havent seen a game without DD5.1 but i am sure they are out there. obviously, you do need the upgrade audio/video kit to get it. there is no optical-in for xbox. they make you buy their crap.
