    Weird Switch box problem

Hello, my friend owns an audio authority 1154a hdtv auto-sensing component video switch box. He had it hooked up to his mits xd300 projector with a 20 or 25 foot blue jeans component cable. Then he had 3 6 foot component video cables from switch box to dvd player, cable box, and xbox. Everything worked fine.

He now has moved and reconnected everything and when the cable box is on it does not seem to be passing the video correctly. If he connects the 25 foot component video cable to the cable box directly it works fine. When he connects it through the switch box, the colors are completely off. example the grass on a baseball field looks flourescent green.

So I took box with me hooked it up to my system and the box functions fine. My component video cables are only max 8ft, but it worked before for him?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Greg

Sounds like he didn't hook it up right...like he had two of the cables reversed.

That is exactly what I thought when I first showed up at his place but that was not the case.

The only other thing I'm thinking it might be is when he moved he went from time warner cable to cablevision cable. It is exactly the same brand hdtv dvr box though. Also I'm on cablevision with the same scientific atlanta 8300hd box and it works for me though.

    And the Answer is.....

DC power coming out of the STB causing interference with the switch box. I called audio authority and they started to get a lot of phone calls a few months back about this problem. They finally figured out the problem. It seems to be a problem mainly with STB with a DVR built into it. Apparently for some reasons a dc current is being sent out of the component video output and causes the switch box to have problems. They have made a dc filter the connects in between the stb and the switch box. It will be available in a few weeks and will cost about $20-30.

Just an FYI, figured someone else may run into the same problem.
