    Rs-232 ??

    What is the RS-232 plug for on the back of my yamaha 2400 receiver for? Is there anything i can use it for? Thanks

    Your RS232 interface theoretically allows you to retrieve updates to the receiver or the remote over the web. Since it's probably bi-directional, it should also allow you to back up and configure the receiver's settings, just in case something accidentally deletes or alters them, though technicians who do home installations are more likely to use this feature.

    that connection is for external remote control only, mainly Crestron or other high-end whole-house control systems; quite frankly a waste on receivers. No, there's nothing else you can do with it
