    ProgScan without 3:2 pulldown
There are Progressive Scan DVD players without 3:2 pulldown processing.

How will be the video quality of such players (in prog mode) when playing film-based material?

Does a "ProgScan without 3:2 pulldown" give better video quality than interlaced video?

    Your comments are much appreciated.

If progressive mode is done without 3:2 pulldown method, you mostly likely get a effect called stairway effect due to the fact two fields (half frame) might be progressive [sown] together that don't belong together.

That will depend on the source material and/or amount of movement in scene. If the video source is pristine and there are not alot of action happening in the scene, then progressive (without 3:2 pulldown) might yield a better picture.
