Anybody have a guesstimate for how many amps these products will pull collectively?

sony 40" bravia lcd, HK AVR-55 or similar level receiver, SA HD-DVR, DVD player, and possibly a 10" powered sub.

Since we're on a 120 or so voltage system, we'd need to know how many watts each component outputs while running (not idling). Roughly, I'd guess that an LCD panel would be at 200 to 250 watts; a modest receiver at 500 to 900 watts; a DVD player at almost nothing, say, 20 watts; and a 10" powered sub at 250 to 300 watts. Trotting out the old formula of amps = volts/watts should get you an answer, give or take a little resistance to current.

    Is it volts/watts or watts/volts?

Oops, you got me. It's watts/volts. Sorry about that.

    That should be watts/volts or watts=amp x volts :)

One also should remember that for audio components such as amplifiers and subs, one can not go by stated power output since that is apparent power rather than real "consumed" power. Consumed power willl be much less than power outputed to speakers or each channels :)
