I would consider the Energy take classic 5.1 system or the Pioneer SP-PK21BS-

you know my brother said the same thing... Im not a big fan of pioneer but im definitely gonna check-em out... the other thing i was thinking to do was to by a couple of floorstands.. possibly Polk Tsi400 (pair) for around $400 which i think is a great deal... im gonna go to my local Hi-fi shop and try different options...
you think is better to buy the whole set or to buy separately?

    Thanks blackraven!

I think that If you want a better sounding system then slowly piece together a speaker system as money allows, especially if you enjoy music. Just make sure to stick with the same speakers especially for the front and center speakers., but preferably for all speakers. For the sub, you can use a different brand.

Here are a few Bookshelf speakers to consider to pair with a sub-

PSB Alpha B1's these can be had for $219pr as B-stock from-

Read this review- PSB Alpha B1 loudspeaker | Stereophile.com

Other PSB's to consider are the B6's and B5's. The B6's have excellent bass for a bookshelf. I bought a pair for my son and they are are a very smooth sounding speaker and well worth the money.
Here are some reviews on the B6-

You could use these for the mains and the B4's for the rear

Audio Advisor has a sale on Demo Monitor Audio M2's which are really rebadged BR2's.

FOR FLOOR STANDERS- consider the Monitor Audio M4-

The M4's would be a good start as you would not need a sub right away as their frequency response is 36hz to 22Khz

You can pair the Monitor audio M2's or M4's with this center and rear speaker-

You have many options and these are some suggestions or speakers that I am familiar with.

Here are a few SUBS to consider-

Pioneer SP-PK21BS: I like these speakers because they use 5 l/4 inch woofers. You should get an overall more room filling sound from these. 5 l/4 inch speakers would be my preferred largest satellite speaker to use. The Take 5 system looks nice but I am not sure about those 3 inch woofers that they use for to me they might be too small. I usually like a 4 inch woofer in a satellite system of which my system consists of. Also take into account the way the speakers look. The Pioneers are not style markers in the 5.1 channel market so if a wife is involved, make sure she approves of them before considering purchase. I am not so particular on style as much as functionaliblity. With the Pioneer, I would see if they are bass reflex units. The reason is if the surrounds are mounted against the wall, and they have a port in the rear, they would be inconvenient to mount in that possition. If your surrounds are on a stand; no problemo.
