Denon 2900 Versus Pioneer PD-59 for CD Sound

I may have blown it on this one. I recently bought, haven't received yet, the Pioner PD-59 CD player for around $280 because I didn't think I could get the Denon 2900 for as low as $325.
I am more then happy with the DVD playback on my Harmon Kardon 31 DVD player, but
am wondering if I would have been better off with the Denon 2900 in terms of CD sound versus the Pioneer PD-59, whether connected by optical or analog cables. Anyone familiar with these care to offer an opinion which would be better for just regular 2 channel CD use?
