    New Electronic Gadgets in 2006

Anyone care to post any new electronics gadgets here in 2006 (if there is a link please include) or old stuff with added interesting improvements?

One that I find impressive is from Samsung HL-S5679W HDTV... It is a 1080P DLP set that has a new chip that works differently than the current DLP sets on the market (no color wheel engine, instead using 3 LED lamps). Bottom line is it eliminates the possibility of seeing the rainbow effect. As someone who sees it on current DLP sets (but otherwise loves what DLP can do), I am a happy camper and can't wait for the technology to be in the stores at a reasonable price point.

    drseid,

Do you have any more info? Samsung has been developing LED for LCD displays, as well as other functions, but I didn't know that they'd found a way to use it for DLP. Is that set out?

The link is http://msn-cnet.com.com/4520-11405_1...=7645#?tag=txt . If you scroll down to the TV section on the C/net page it will have a brief description and a link to more info... It looks like the more info link is not working right now though. :-( I am under the impression that the set has not been released yet, but is in its final stages before release.

Just saw it. Strange that the link isn't working, and I can't find any more information about it. But this could be a huge innovation for DLP. What remains to be seen is how good the color is, but even if it isn't perfect (what is?), it might offer a tempting alternative to the color wheel for a lot of people who otherwise can't consider DLP.

This could be a blockbuster development. But can DLP possibly get any more complex? Sheeesh.
