Which Onkyo would you get?

I'm looking to get a new HTIB system for my large living room. It's in a two story house and is a very big room that's open to the upstairs with vaulted celings. I've narrowed my selection down to two systems - Onkyo's HT-S777C and the LS-V950.

Which would you get?

6.1 is not important
Size of speakers and system is not important
Audio quality should be really good, but doesn't have to be outrageously good
*I'd like something that can get really loud without distortion
*Something that plays audio CDs with great sound quality

Any experienced users out there that can help me decide? Or if you know of another system in the $500-$600 price range, let me know that too.
