What do you guys think? Those are some major theaters in there. I don't know too much about specs and what they mean (aside from the basics) but I know nice when I see one.

Another HT mag to check out is Electronic Lifestyles. This mag is all about custom electronic design and install. There are some great highend home theatres in this mag.

I'm kind of partial to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea theme. I know it's not conventional, but that's what I like about it, it's so different from every other HT room out there. Anyone with $90K to spare can come up with something reasonably fancy or even austere looking, but to give it character, that requires imagination.

I personally think it is gaudy. I could design a theater that looks better for half that price. Not only is it not conventional, but the choice of room color is going to kill the contrast levels of the front projection system. All of the projections systems light splashing off the walls in a darkened room is not good for viewing. There are too many colors in the room, and what is worse is the front of the room is almost all white, which is a no no in theater design circles. That carpet is ugly and does nothing to bring all of the colors of the room together.

The man has very good equipment, great speakers, and a great idea, but lousy implementation. Didn't the nautilus have dark wood on its walls?

Personally, I'm not into the batman look in a speaker. Even some of those 80k speakers look like they are from outerspace. I am more of the conventional type. I'd love to create a theater with a set of PSB synchrony series speakers. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Have you ever heard this speaker? You talk about audio bliss, this speaker sounds way better than any PSB speaker....no offense of course.

Well for that price, 80k or whatever they are, I'm sure they sound fantastic but I'm just talking about aesthetics. I'm not really into the weird lookin' speaker designs.

I doubt very much if you could find any new since they are out of production, but you never know. The best bet would be used, me thinks.

I don't think the home installation industry is lacking in imagination, these days they can pretty much create any and everything a consumer desires. I get a magazine directed at the install industry called Residential Systems. The theaters in that magazine are all over the map in terms of creativity.

Yes, but this brings up a good point. With so many speaker designs, there could be more synergy between speaker design and the overall look of the room. The B&W Nautillus (perhaps in a different color) would have been an interesting match to that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea room.

While I certainly don't want to suggest that sound reproduction in said environment is unimportant, I would suggest that with so many speaker designs to choose from, a speaker selection could, and perhaps should, match the overall theme. One would not for example, use Sonus Faber Stradivari in a room who's theme was more suited to Audio Physic Kronos, even though both pairs look & sound astounding and are in that lofty price range.
