B&K receiver should I get it?

While following the great advice given on this site and looking for new speakers I found a B&K 307 receiver for $600.00. Should I get this and then upgrade the speakers? This seems like a great deal. Right now I have a Yamaha RX-v1400 receiver.

It's an older AVR and won't have all the bells and whistles for todays home theater. It would be good for 2ch use. I think that B&K sold for $3500 new.

What's more important to you; features or sound? Like blackraven said, the B&K should be very good for sound, but it likely doesn't feature the latest decoding for BluRay (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-Master). I've owned B&K and will attest to their build quality. Sound is very smooth, albeit a bit rolled off on the top end. Depending on your speakers, this could be a good thing.

    Hope this helps.

You should still consider upgrading your receiver if you are looking for a better musical system. Yamaha can be a little bright and in your face, great for HT but not for music. Just my 2 cents.
    HT system:
    Marantz SR7001 receiver
    Emotiva UPA-2 Amplifier
    Adcom GDV-870 DVD-A/CD player
    Yamaha S1800 DVD/SACD player
    Panasonic DMP-BD60K blu Ray player
    PSB Image series speakes s/s

    Hitachi 46" HD projector screen
