Need help with my surrounds

Currently I have two phase tech speakers, subwoofer, and a technics receiver. I want to setup my room for 5.1 but the only problem is my placement of the surrounds. One of the surrounds would have to be mounted on the wall about where i sleep which doesnt seem like the best idea. So i was wondering if the surround would work if it were placed under my bed (which is raised 8 inches off the ground) or if my bed would muffle the sound too much. Does any one have any suggestions.
