Interesting that blacks don't look good on pure white. I wouldn't have guessed. Maybe it's the projector (not the screen) that is the problem there- putting out some light even with black?

My guess is that white is reflective therefore some grey allows the panel to absorb the blacks giving the image more depth.

So what's the magic paint formula that you settled on as best? If you could post that, I would appreciate it. Which paints you used, exactly, and what proportions they were each mixed in.

That would be a tremendous help in making a screen myself. I wouldn't have to bother with the experimenting you did. Thanks.
