Post LCDs Faceoff: Olevia & Samsung Top the Chart.

Wired.com tested several LCDs and Plasmas. They tested each TV’s Video Processing and Color Accuracy, and rated them accordingly.

The surprise here was Olevia 47 inch LCD beating stiff competition from Sony, Sharp or Panasonic TVs to to get the highest overall score.

    Here is the run down:

Under 38 inch LCDs, Samsung LN-T3253H LCD ($1100, 720P) came in first with highest over all score.

From 38 TO 49 INCHERS, Olevia 747i LCD ($2500, 1080P) came in first with highest over all score.

In 50 INCHES AND UP, LG 60PY3D Plasma ($5400, 1080P) had the highest score.

    Cool

No surprize to me, the place where I work is buying quite a few of these to replace older sets, and they look great.
Funny thing tho, the menu system is the exact same one I had on a 47in panny RPTV
a few years back (a rotating barrel), I imagine they picked it up from Panny to save on development cost

That is interesting. I know the menu since it was also on Panasonic's SuperFlat TV series I own few years back. Not a user friendly menu.

I also found ConsumerReports magazine LCDs Faceoff done in October 2007 issue. Samsung LCDs also received high rating in term of HD picture quality.

Of the 37 LCDs they tested, only 11 of them received Excellent (four star) picture rating in HD. Here are the winners:

    46-52 Inch Models
    Samsung 46-inch LN-T4661F ($2,500)
    Sony Bravia 46-Inch KDL-46S3000 ($1,800)

    40-42 Inch Models
    Samsung 40-inch LN-T4061F ($1,700)
    Sony Bravia 40-inch KDL-40S3000 ($1,500)
    Toshiba Regza 42-inch 42HL67 ($1,150)
    Toshiba Regza 42-inch 42HL167 ($1,600)

    37-Inch Models
    LG 37LB5D ($1,600)

    32-Inch Models
    Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000 ($1,100)
    Panasonic TC-32LX700 ($950)

    Cool

Thats the problem with reviews like this, I thought my tosh TV was great until I had had
it for about six months and everything started to look like the simpsons.
Samsung, I HAD a 30in tube, a 47in rptv crt, and currently have a dsc player of theirs,
    their quality is first rate.
AND SONY? well, of course, first set was a 20in XBR, HAD THREE OTHERS
and Sony is the only TV made, everything else is an imitation, IMHO
