Hello everyone,

My name is Sumeet. I'm from Mumbai, India. I am new here, this is my first post. I am facing a bit of confusion here. I have narrowed down to Klipsch Quintet 5.0 for my home theatre – just loved it.

I have a friend coming from the US who is willing to carry the speakers for me. So I checked online and there surely is a huge difference in the price ($510 approx. as opposed to $800 if I were to buy from here). During my search, I came across a set of Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers at half the price ($250 approx.).

I visited the Klipsch website to learn the cheaper ones are the older model and are discontinued. I did compare the specs and they are pretty similar.

Below are the links to the specs for both:

The issue here is that I have taken the demo of the current model but have no idea what the older model sounds like. I discussed this with my dealer here – he is happy to guide me since I will be buying the subwoofer and receiver from him J. He is of the opinion that the older model has a plastic body and the newer one is metallic that makes all the difference.

Taking reference from the specs comparison and the price difference, I most definitely am lured to go in for the cheaper set. Even if the metallic body is better than the plastic body – how bad would the plastic body be?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Warm regards,

Sumeet
