For 15 feet viewing distance @ 720p I would recommend at minimum a 60" set. You may want to consider a JVC D-ILA or Sony SXRD Rear Projection set. The JVC 61" HD-61FH97 is available for $2,079 on Amazon (much cheaper than the 55" Hitachi Plasma).

The Denon AVR-887 (aka Denon AVR-2307CI) is a very good choice for receiver. If you are looking to save some money you may also want to consider the Pioneer VSX-1016TXV.

You can get a much better DVD Player than the Denon DVD-557 (aka Denon DVD-1730) within your budget. Take a look at the Oppo 970 and 981.

Instead of the Klipsch RPW10 subwoofer I would recommend a HSU STF-2, for roughly the same price. The HSU will put the Klipsch sub to shame.

As for the Klipsch speakers, I haven't auditionned them myself so I can't make a recommendation. However, if you have an opportunity you should definately audition Paradigm Monitor speakers, they are excellent for home theatre. Audition as many speakers as you can, especially for such a large investment. Your ears won't lie to you. For home theatre, another brand that might be ideal for you is Axiom.

Don't forget to purchase a Universal Remote. The Logitech Harmony 880 gets my vote.
