Help me decide which one is better: HT-TWZ415T/XAC vs HE903PAW

I am not very knowledgable in the audio.

    I have a LG 47'' LCD. Model: 52LG50 (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0HDS0010100012)

    Currently I have Samsung Model: HT-TWZ415T (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN)

I can switch to LG Model: HE903PAW (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...id=EN#MoreInfo)

I have a ps3 as well. I want best sound setup and quality but have to choose from the above two home theatres.

Which one will be better sound quality and good for ps3 setup? (dont mind spending extra on HDMI cables, etc)

    Any info will help.

Why are you limited to those 2 packages?

They are the same, basically, even look the same.
A friend went all over town looking for a "boombox"/ shelf system to listen to at work, I didnt have the heart to tell him that he was basically
buying and returning the same system with a few cosmetic changes.
Go to Walmart sometime and look at their "boomboxes", you will see that outside of a few differences that the controls, everything is in the same place.
large companies contract out for their less expensive stuff, and its all made in the same factory to get good economies of scale, each "batch "
going to a paticular outsourcer is customized for them, but basically they are the same.
AND LOOK AT THOSE SPEAKERS, heck, they even look the same.
Most on this board will turn their noses up at such stuff as
Home theater in a box, calling it a "home theater system" is like calling
    a Vespa scooter a Corvette.
A friend has one, get so loud and the sound cracks, distorts, etc.
A more acurate discription would be a clock radio with delusions of grandeur.
NOW, you may dispute what I say, but have you really looked
    at these two systems?
    Both; 1,000 "watts"
    both; 599$
both; made in Korea by Korean manufacturers.
In other words both contracted with an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for the same piece of crap, and put their own individual badges on each one, the rest is marketing.
so which is better? Neither, both are the identical piece of crap
that will last two to five years, if that long.
Which to buy? Flip a coin, doesnt make any difference, really.
Or spend a few hundred more and get a real HT

    Cool

    heres an example
    Speakers
    http://www.avperfection.com/Scripts/...idproduct=1189

    receiver
    http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...onkyo-tx-sr506

THIS cost as much as either of your "systems", will sound infinitely better, have more "cachet", be more flexible, and all you have to do is add a DVD player with HDMI, FIFTY TO A HUNDRED BUCKS).
Most important, the sound will be AMAZING.
Spend a little more and you can doo even better.
    Good luck.

BTW this is practiced in other industry also.
Want a Mazda Protege and sad that they arent made anymore?
Buy a Hundai, whenever MAZDA GETS THROUGH WITH A CAR THEY SEND all of the stuff over to their sister company, they rebadge it(lipstick on the pig) and push it out the door with a new name

I just wanted a simple answer

I did not want a debate over this. I have to pick out of these two because it was sold as a package.

From specs I noticed LG one has HDMI input whereas Samsung doesn't. Thats the kind of information I was looking for...not a discussion on car parts and the whole manufacturing process...

I will still appreciate if people can still just comment on the specs and be useful.

    thanks.

    There Are No Simple Answers

Pixelthis is not only of one our finest resident Audio/Home Theater experts, he is also our resident Japanese/Korean auto expert. You might learn something if you would carefully read his very pertinent analogies.

To offer an analogy of my own: ponder that you had come here to our alcohol forum to ask for an opinion on whether you should buy a six pack of Schmidts beer for $4.99 or a six pack of Great Falls beer for $5.99. Now suppose Pix (that's short for Pixelthis) said that you could buy a six pack of Moosehead Great White North Ultra Winter Ale for only $5.50. Get the point? He is actually concerned for your well being and simply wants to see that you get the best bang for the buck.

He was trying to explain to you that the speakers and receiver that he listed are far, far, far superior in performance to the two run of the mill HTIB (home theater in a box ) systems that you listed. The specifications listed are basically useless and inflated. For example, the listing of 1000 watts without any reference frequency and distortion specs are meaningless. Those two systems probably actually produce about an honest 100-150 watts if that. That wattage amount is also useless if you don't know the sensitivity of the speakers.

Whether the systems have HDMI or not is matter of features and not specs. The list of features and specs are no use in evaluating in any way how either of these systems would perform. The only way to do that is to go listen to them or buy them both and take them home and audition them. Sorry, but these are low class sound systems and the specs are not standard type specs as normally listed for quality products.

I don't know why you have to choose one of these two systems and are not able to return the whole TV and the sound system package and start over. Doesn't Futureshop have a satisfaction guarantee? BTW, a 50" Panasonic 1080p plasma goes for what you paid for that LG TV (another product made in Korea) and is far superior in performance. Even the Panny 50" 768p plasma (that's short for Panasonic) is better. I think Pix presumed that you might be a savy buyer and good at returning stuff.

Also, I think they would be happy to know that you are returning the Korean products and buying speakers that are from the land of the Canucks, aye (or is it eh?). Energy is one of the great Canadian speaker companies (I won't mention that they have been bought by Klipsch).

So, when you come here for advise please understand that we do have experts standing by to answer your questions, 24 hours per day. However, please don't be rude to them when they are simply trying to help and educate you. Your somewhat snippy response is just so un-Canadian.

    Cool

BUT if you ARE bound and determined to get one of these, want a TV and suround and just dont want to bother with quality please listen to
what I say...THESE ARE THE SAME SYSTEM.
Each manufacturer choose the features for his paticular system for the OEM to put on his set.
So pick out the feature set you want, its as simple as that, you will basically get the same gear no matter which one you pick.
Mainly car stereo speakers which distort at 75 db, a clock radio amp that can barely drive them, etc.
Sorry if you perceive this as an "insult", I am mearly trying to
tell you that you are buying mediocrity in a pretty package.
Which would be fine if you got a good price, you could justify it that
way, but you are paying for premium beer and getting Milwalkees best.
ANY 250$ HTIB from Walmart will sound as good as either one of these "systems", and be quite a bit cheaper.
If you're going to pay for an entry level HT system you might as well get one instead of a HTIB is all I am saying.
If you are going for hambuger why pay for steak?
The system I purposed to you is ten times better than either one of these HTIB systems, and costs the same. if you can get a credit or something just go to walfart and shell out a couple of hundred bucks, get basically the same thing for 400 bucks less.
It will perform about the same

    thats not the point

    again,

i didnt want analagies. i asked a simple question which required a simple answer. i would always prefer to buy speakers seperately. i paid 1900 for the TV, HTIB and a PS3 for the "pretty package" . i didn't think i needed to provide that information but clearly it really makes a difference to you WHY i bought the speakers...

and the reason i have a choice of the theatre systems is because they were out of stock for LG one so they gave me samsung with the option to switch later

finally, i dont think i paid for a premium beer and got milwaukees, the price is justified for what i got with it.

thanks for telling me they are the same though...bottom line here is no one here was really helpful.

For someone who according to your own words "I am not very knowledgable in the audio." you certainly seem to already have all the answers.
