    I stated way early in this thread that for me, almost every DVD I played had the problem you just stated. I was using an old Denon DVD player at the time. I switched to an OPPO 93 and the problem is gone when playing any DVD as well as the ones that previously caused me problems with the background being louder than the dialog.
